Prosecuted and detained 4 subjects who protected and collected money from rice harvesters

(Baonghean.vn) - On June 23, the People's Procuracy of Do Luong district approved the decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and approve the temporary detention order for 4 subjects who protected and threatened the owners of rice harvesters.

The arrested subjects include: Nguyen Xuan Viet (born in 1987, residing in Hamlet 15, Thuong Son Commune, Do Luong District); Dang Van Sen (born in 1980, residing in Hamlet 11, Quang Son Commune, Do Luong District); Nguyen Cong Quyet (born in 1990); Le Van Phu (born in 1990), both residing in Hamlet 14, Thinh Son Commune, Do Luong District, for the crime of "Extortion of property".

4 subjects were prosecuted and temporarily detained for the crime of extortion.

At the investigation agency, the subjects confessed: In early June 2016, Mr. Nguyen Cong Ky (born in 1966, in hamlet 8, Thai Son commune, Do Luong district) was the owner of a multi-purpose rice harvester, along with 3 other workers, harvesting rice for Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai in a field in hamlet 7, Thuong Son commune. Seeing that, the 4 subjects above threatened and forced Mr. Ky to pay protection money of 10 million VND for the whole crop or 30 thousand VND/1 sao of rice.

Because of fear and wanting to do business in peace, on June 9, Mr. Ky contacted Viet and his accomplices to pay protection money and asked to reduce the protection money to 4 million VND, and the group agreed.

Upon receiving the report, Do Luong district police issued an emergency arrest warrant for 4 subjects for the act of extortion. Searching the subjects' residence, the police seized 7 knives and swords of various types; 09 iron pipes; 265 FIOCCHI - SKEET bullets.

It is known that these subjects do not have stable jobs, live in gangs, and cause disorder in many communes in Do Luong district. Currently, the investigation agency is completing the case file to handle according to the provisions of the law.
