Authorities prosecute suspect specializing in breaking into homes to steal property.

(Baonghean.vn) - On October 25th, the Nam Dan District Police announced that they have initiated criminal proceedings and temporarily detained Nguyen Van Thanh (24 years old), residing in Nam Dan town, for the crime of theft.

According to police investigations, since March 2015, there have been a series of burglaries in Nam Dan district, where thieves broke into homes at night to steal property in a very sophisticated manner. The homeowners, even while asleep, were completely unaware. The victims were often well-off families or government officials. For example, on the night of September 20th, a family of a Nam Dan District People's Committee official had their home broken into, with thieves stealing a computer, mobile phone, and other items.

Through advanced investigative techniques, on October 10th, the Nam Dan District Police summoned Nguyen Van Thanh (24 years old), residing in Nam Dan town, as a suspect in the aforementioned incidents.

At the police station, Thanh confessed to being the perpetrator of 9 thefts in the area. The stolen items included computers, necklaces, and mobile phones worth over 80 million VND.

Thanh is a drug addict who was previously arrested in a drug case and sentenced to 3 years in prison. He pawned or sold all the stolen goods to buy drugs.
