Prosecution initiated against individual who assaulted and threatened to stab a judge.
On June 13th, the People's Procuracy of Region 3 (Dong Thap province) announced that it had approved the decision to prosecute and the order to temporarily detain Phan Minh Tai (born in 1982, residing in Long Hung commune) for investigation into the act of illegal detention.
According to initial investigations, on the morning of May 28th, Judge NTMT and secretary PTQ (working at the People's Court of Region 3), along with bank staff and relevant authorities in Long Hung commune, went to Ms. Phan Thi Xuong's house to conduct an assessment of assets in a civil case.
Here, Tài (Mrs. Xuong's son) made threatening remarks. Tài brandished a knife, threatening to stab them, and demanded that Mrs. T. and Ms. Q. go into the yard and lock the door, preventing them from coming out. Tài used insulting and abusive language, and used his hands to force Mrs. T. to sit down on a stone bench and hit her on the head.
At around 10:00 AM the same day, the Long Hung commune police in Dong Thap province received a report and went to Mrs. Xuong's house to rescue her. At this point, Tai finally let Mrs. T. and Q. out of the house.
The People's Procuracy of Region 3 and the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Dong Thap Provincial Police have examined the scene, recorded statements from those involved, and initiated a criminal case for investigation and strict handling in accordance with the law.
