At 1:30 PM on the same day, due to a misunderstanding, a conflict arose between the group from Yen Thanh and the group from Dien Chau, leading to a fight. Under the influence of alcohol, Nguyen Dinh Canh pulled out a switchblade knife, approximately 20cm long, and stabbed Tran Van Hieu (born in 1992), residing in Yen Thinh hamlet, Hau Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, in the back. After being stabbed, Hieu ran towards the cashier area, but Canh chased after him and stabbed him again in the back, causing Hieu to collapse on the spot.

After committing the crime, Canh fled the scene, while Hieu was taken by local residents to the Yen Thanh District General Hospital for emergency treatment. However, due to the severity of his injuries, which included a punctured lung and excessive bleeding, Hieu died at the hospital.

Upon receiving the report, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police, in coordination with the Forensic Technical Department, the Provincial People's Procuracy, and the Yen Thanh District Police, conducted a scene investigation, autopsy, and launched an investigation into the case while simultaneously pursuing the perpetrator.

Through investigative measures, the police determined that Canh was hiding in the local area and contacted his family to persuade him to surrender. At 5:31 PM on July 31st, Nguyen Dinh Canh turned himself in to the investigating agency.

At the investigative agency, the suspect Canh admitted to the crime and confessed that, due to a sudden conflict, he stabbed Hieu in the back with a knife. After committing the crime, Canh took the knife home, washed it, and stayed at a friend's house because he didn't dare go home. According to Canh's confession, during the altercation, Ho Cong Quan (born in 1998) and Nguyen Dinh Thai (born in 1999), both residing in Hamlet 7B, Dien Trung Commune, Dien Chau District, also hit Hieu with their hands.

The Criminal Investigation Department of the provincial police has summoned Ho Cong Quan and Nguyen Dinh Thai for questioning regarding their involvement in the assault, and is continuing to expand the investigation to clarify the actions of several related individuals.
