(Baonghean.vn) - Just over a day after receiving the report, using professional methods, the Nghi Loc District Police (Nghe An) successfully arrested the suspect who defrauded victims of hundreds of millions of VND by selling them cars.

The Nghi Loc District Police have just issued a decision to initiate a criminal case and prosecute Nguyen Ngoc Tu (born in 1982), residing in Hamlet 7, Nghi Phong Commune, Nghi Loc District, for the crime of...Fraudulent appropriation of property.

Previously, the Nghi Loc District Police received a report from a man residing in Nghi Duc commune, Vinh City, stating that in mid-May 2022, while using social media, the victim saw Nguyen Ngoc Tu posting images and information advertising the sale of a car, claiming that the previous owner had pawned it and failed to claim it, for 370 million VND. After reaching an agreement, Tu requested the victim to pay a deposit of 170 million VND and promised to deliver the car within 45 days of the deposit date.

However, even after the victim had paid the full deposit of 170 million VND, Tú still did not deliver the car as promised. Despite the victim's repeated attempts to contact him to demand the car, Nguyễn Ngọc Tú kept finding excuses to avoid him and then blocked all means of communication with the victim.

Upon receiving the report, the Nghi Loc District Police quickly mobilized forces and resources to investigate and clarify the case. Applying a comprehensive set of professional measures, after just over 24 hours of intensive pursuit, on October 2nd, the Nghi Loc District Police successfully arrested Nguyen Ngoc Tu for the crime of fraud and appropriation of property while he was hiding in Dien Thanh commune, Dien Chau district.

At the investigative agency, Tú admitted to his illegal actions. According to his confession, wanting money for personal expenses, Nguyễn Ngọc Tú took pictures of cars from the internet and then advertised them for sale on social media. In reality, Tú did not own the car he advertised.

To assist in the expanded investigation of the case, the Nghi Loc District Police are announcing that anyone who is a victim of Nguyen Ngoc Tu should quickly contact the Nghi Loc District Police to provide information to help with the investigation and prosecution.
