Young man charged with setting off firecrackers in the middle of the street to celebrate his birthday.
(Baonghean.vn) - At his personal birthday party, a 27-year-old man set off firecrackers to celebrate, much to the excitement of his friends.
On January 2nd, the Vinh City Police (Nghe An province) announced that they have initiated criminal proceedings against Nguyen Thanh Phuong (born in 1991, residing in Dong Vinh ward, Vinh City) for the crime of "Disrupting public order". The suspect has been released on bail.
According to the investigating agency, one evening in December 2017, Nguyen Thanh Phuong invited his friends to a birthday party he organized at a restaurant on Ly Thuong Kiet Street, Le Loi Ward (near Vinh bus station).
While the party was in progress, Phuong lit a firecracker (a 36-firecracker pack) to celebrate right inside the restaurant. To the excitement of his friends, Phuong then lit a second firecracker pack and threw it out onto the street.
When the police arrived to handle the situation and restore order, Phuong was uncooperative and fled the scene. However, the suspect was arrested the following day.
According to records, Nguyen Thanh Phuong had two previous convictions for property destruction; disturbing public order; and resisting arrest. In June 2017, Phuong was released from prison and returned to his hometown.
