Woman charged with strangling her husband to death.

According to the investigation documents, at noon on June 7th, during the memorial service for her father-in-law, Mrs. Tran Thi Lien (born in 1972, residing in Xuan Pho commune, Nghi Xuan district) was verbally abused and hit on the head by her drunk husband, Mr. Pham Anh S. (born in 1964). Angered by this, she resisted, called another person to help, tied him up with a rope, and locked him in a room.

At around 8 PM that same day, because Mr. S. continued to hurl insults, Mrs. Lien went into the bathroom and used a rope and tape to cover her husband's mouth. At 1:30 AM on July 7th, she took a long-sleeved shirt and wrapped it around Mr. S.'s neck.

Knowing her husband had died, Mrs. Lien used scissors to cut the ropes binding him and his clothes, put these items in a black plastic bag, and threw them into the garden. She then called her children to inform them that their father had died suddenly from drunkenness and hastily arranged the funeral.

When it came time to make funeral arrangements, Mr. S.'s relatives didn't believe he had died suddenly, so they reported it to the Nghi Xuan District Police. After examining the scene and the body, the police concluded that the victim had numerous bruises, which were caused by external force.

Ms. Lien was suspected of being the culprit and was summoned for questioning. Initially, she only admitted to tying up her husband, not killing him. After two days of interrogation, she confessed to using a long-sleeved shirt to wrap around Mr. S.'s neck, leading to his death.

Ms. Lien also admitted that her youngest daughter was also in the house when the incident occurred.

It is known that Ms. Lien and Mr. S have three children, and they have been separated for four years. Ms. Lien works as a domestic helper, and Mr. S works as a carpenter in Vinh. They only see each other occasionally when there are family matters to attend to.
