Seven young men riding motorbikes involved in the deaths of two police officers were prosecuted for "resisting law enforcement officers" and "disturbing public order".

The 7 defendants include: Nguyen Dinh Hoan, Nguyen Dang An (both 19 years old), Nguyen Van Cuong (28 years old), Nguyen Van Vinh, Pham Hong Thai (both 16 years old), Nguyen Van Giang (17 years old), Le Ngoc Cuong (26 years old).

When they reached Hoang Sa Street and Le Duc Tho Street, the group was asked to stop by the control team that was preventing people from gathering on Son Tra Peninsula during the Covid-19 pandemic, but they did not comply. Crossing Man Quang bridge, Captain Tuan's car collided with the motorbike of Mai Quoc Long (35 years old) traveling in the same direction. Captain Tuan's car continued to hit a tree on the side of the road, causing the death of 2 soldiers. Long suffered a broken leg, shoulder and multiple soft tissue injuries and has now been discharged from the hospital.

During the night of April 2 and early morning of April 3, city police tracked down the 9 young men.
