Authorities have launched a gambling case in Nghe An province, resulting in the arrest of over 100 people.
(Baonghean.vn) - The evidence seized at the scene included 530 million VND and many related items.
On the afternoon of January 16th, the Nghe An Provincial Police announced that the Criminal Investigation Agency had issued a decision to initiate a criminal case for "Organizing gambling" and "Gambling," and is continuing to investigate and clarify the criminal acts of the individuals involved in the gambling incident that occurred in Nam Dan town, Nam Dan district on the afternoon of January 13th.
A total of 101 individuals were arrested in the gambling case, and 530 million VND and other related evidence were seized at the scene. The police are currently continuing to classify and determine the roles of each individual involved.

According to Colonel Nguyen Manh Hung, Deputy Director of the Nghe An Provincial Police, police had previously identified a group of individuals who regularly organized gambling activities, with their usual locations being Nam Dan district and other areas.
In April 2019, the provincial police leadership agreed to allow the Nam Dan district police to establish a special task force to combat and dismantle the gambling ring. Due to the complex and sophisticated nature of this gambling operation, the Nghe An Provincial Police sent a request to the Criminal Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) for assistance and cooperation in solving the case.
After a period of surveillance, on January 13, 2020, at a four-story house in Sa Nam block, Nam Dan town, Nam Dan district, Nghe An province, the Nghe An Provincial Police, in coordination with the Criminal Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) and Special Forces Battalion No. 01 - Mobile Police Command, successfully surrounded and dismantled the aforementioned gambling ring.

According to the Head of the Provincial Police Investigation Agency, these gamblers come from all over the country, residing in many districts and cities within the province, and some even from outside the province. “The locations where these individuals gamble are not stable, but constantly changing. Sometimes they gamble in the forest, sometimes in the middle of the river, sometimes in karaoke bars or guesthouses. This makes it difficult for the police to track and arrest them,” Colonel Hung added.
