Criminal proceedings have been launched in connection with the accident on the North-South expressway that resulted in six casualties.
The Investigation Police Department of Quang Tri Province has issued a decision to initiate a criminal case to investigate violations of regulations on participation in road traffic under Article 260 of the Penal Code, related to the extremely serious accident that occurred on the North-South expressway (section passing through Hoan Lao commune), resulting in 2 deaths and 4 injuries.

Earlier, at approximately 5:30 AM on December 8th, at Km 635+500 on the North-South Expressway, in the area of Hoan Lao commune (Quang Tri province), a truck with license plate 36H-054.67, driven by Tran Van Trung (born in 1998, residing in Thanh Hoa province), crashed.collideHe crashed into the rear of the tractor-trailer truck 61C-327.54, towing trailer 3R-004.93, driven by Nguyen Van Hau (born 1966, residing in Vy Quy commune, Tien Giang province), which was stopped on the road.
The powerful collision resulted in the immediate deaths of two people in the vehicles involved; four others were injured and were taken by local residents and authorities to the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi for emergency treatment. The truck, license plate 36H-054.67, suffered extensive damage to its front end.
The accident caused a traffic jam stretching for several kilometers on the North-South highway for many hours. Vehicles traveling in the North-South direction had to divert onto the Ho Chi Minh Highway at the Phong Nha interchange to continue their journey.
Immediately after the incident occurred, traffic police and the highway management unit were present at the scene to direct traffic, conduct an investigation into the cause of the accident, and assist the victims in overcoming the consequences.
