(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 19th, in Tan Ky district, the Nghe An Department of Culture and Sports, in coordination with the Tan Ky District People's Committee, organized the 2024 Nghe An Province Ethnic Minority Sports Competition.

The 2024 Ethnic Minority Sports Festival of Nghe An province will feature 300 athletes from 12 mountainous districts and towns, including Thanh Chuong, Tan Ky, Nghia Dan, Quy Hop, Quy Chau, Que Phong, Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Anh Son, Quynh Luu, and Thai Hoa town.
The athletes competed in six disciplines: volleyball, crossbow shooting, throwing the ball, tug-of-war, stick pushing, and stilt walking.

This is one of the activities celebrating the Day of Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures (April 19). The competition aims to preserve and develop the cultural and sporting identity of ethnic minority communities, and to further improve the quality of the movement "All people practice physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh," and "Be healthy to build and protect the Fatherland."

This is also an opportunity for athletes to interact, learn, and share experiences in developing traditional sports of their respective ethnic groups.

Through this competition, the Organizing Committee will select outstanding athletes to participate in national sports competitions and contests for ethnic minorities in 2024 and subsequent years.
