Controlling forest fire at Oi peak, Hoa Quan commune
According to information from the People's Committee of Hoa Quan commune, at around 12:30 noon on August 10, a forest fire broke out at Oi forest in Chi Hong hamlet, Hoa Quan commune (formerly Thanh Chi commune, Thanh Chuong district).
Upon receiving the news, the local authorities mobilized more than 150 people from the Thanh Chuong Forest Protection Department, the Commune Police, the Commune Military, the Anh Son Area 5 Command (Thanh Chuong Base 3) and local people to quickly arrive at the scene to organize fire fighting. The forces were divided into many groups, approaching the fire from different directions to control the spread of the fire.

Mr. Phan Van Hoang - Head of Thanh Chuong Forest Protection Department said that this area is mainly reeds, thick vegetation, hot weather, rugged mountainous terrain so fire fighting work encountered many obstacles. However, thanks to good coordination, by about 5:30 p.m. the same day, the fire was basically under control.

Currently, functional forces are still on duty at the scene overnight to monitor and handle the ashes, to prevent the risk of the fire from re-igniting and spreading to neighboring areas.
