There is no forbidden zone for 'safe landing' thinking
The proposal to prosecute Mr. Phi Thai Binh warns those who hold the power to control economic activities in particular and use state power in general to see that their violations can be prosecuted at any time.
According to the Standing Member of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee, Le Thanh Van, the decision by the investigation agency to prosecute Mr. Phi Thai Binh, former Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, is a continuation of the previous investigation related to the broken Da River water pipeline.

This is consistent with the spirit of the recent Central Committee Resolution 4 and Central Committee Resolution 5. That is, anyone who violates the law, whether in office or retired, must be held responsible before the law.
Delegate Le Thanh Van said that Mr. Phi Thai Binh's assertion that he worked with pure motives and without self-interest is his own opinion.
The crime that the investigation agency brought to prosecute was violating the provisions of the law causing serious consequences. The investigation agency clearly pointed out that there were violations in bidding, selecting contractors, and selecting raw materials without careful assessment.
“I learned through the press that Mr. Binh and the Board of Directors were directly involved in the process of selecting contractors and deciding on materials. That behavior is against the rules and standards prescribed by law. Therefore, the investigation agency prosecuted this case,” said Deputy Van.
The Standing Member of the Finance and Budget Committee also explained that violations in bidding are different from acts of corruption. However, corruption can also arise in the process of violating legal regulations.
Fighting against violations has no forbidden zones
Delegate Le Thanh Van said that with the participation of the entire political system, especially the Party and Central agencies, the fight against corruption is changing and spreading to localities. The proposal to prosecute Mr. Binh shows a strong resonance with the will of the Central Committee.
This warns and deters those who hold the power to control economic activities in particular and use state power in general to see that their violations can be prosecuted at any time.
"This shows that the fight against corruption and violations has no forbidden zones, and there is no place for individuals who commit violations and have the idea of landing safely after their term ends and they retire," emphasized Deputy Le Thanh Van.
He said that the proposal to prosecute Mr. Phi Thai Binh is a positive signal to restore people's trust.
The remaining issue is to quickly and promptly investigate and prosecute cases of law violations. For those who are greedy and misappropriate public property, that is a red line that cannot be crossed.
