'No way back' for Vinh Sub-Urban Project!

| On the morning of April 25, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the construction of some components of the Vinh Urban Development Project (also known as the Vinh Sub-Urban Project). Accompanying him were leaders of Vinh City, Hung Nguyen District and some Departments and branches. |
The project includes 4 components: Component 1: Improving services and upgrading basic infrastructure. Component 2: Improving environmental sanitation, including upgrading and renovating the North Canal, building a regulating lake; upgrading and renovating the moat around Vinh Citadel, upgrading and renovating Cua Nam Lake. Component 3: Urban roads and bridges. Component 4: Capacity building and technical support. The project implementation cost is 121.5 million USD (World Bank loan), of which domestic counterpart capital is 26.5 million USD.
Up to now, the project to upgrade and renovate the canal and reservoir has basically been completed. Other components are still stuck in the work of compensation, site clearance, and resettlement support. At the end of 2016, when inspecting the site, the World Bank (WB) proposed to speed up the progress, otherwise the funding source would be cut off.

On the morning of April 25, the provincial working delegation inspected the construction site of the Hung Tay - Vinh new road project, connecting with the Vinh city bypass at the beginning of the route, connecting with National Highway 1A at the end of the route, building a bridge over the Ke Gai river; clearing some sections of the 72m road project... Most of the inspected sections were still slow in the site clearance stage.
To speed up the construction of projects according to the commitment of the Provincial People's Committee to the World Bank (WB), comrade Huynh Thanh Dien directed Vinh City and Hung Nguyen District to actively participate in mobilizing people to cooperate in completing compensation and handing over the site to contractors.

Specifically, on the road connecting the Lam River road with National Highway 46, there are still 3 households that have not handed over the land, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested Vinh City to organize construction protection. As for the sections of the 72m road project, the contractors are requested to clear the land and mobilize maximum means for construction.
Particularly at the Ke Gai River bridge project, in Nam Phuc Long hamlet of Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district, there are still 42 households that do not agree with the compensation and site clearance plan, while Vinh city has completed the bridge abutment, the construction unit has prepared vehicles and bridge beams for construction but is stuck with site clearance.

Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien assigned the People's Committee of Hung Nguyen district to take more active action, mobilize people's consensus to clear the ground for construction, because when completed, the project will effectively serve the regional connection between Vinh city and Hung Nguyen district in economic development.
