It is known that she was orphaned at a young age. She grew up under the care of her older brother and relatives and neighbors. However, when she reached marriageable age, her marital happiness was incomplete, leaving her to become a single mother at the age of 27.
Even though her child is now over two years old, she is constantly ill, and the lives of the mother and child are filled with exhausting trips to and from the hospital. In 2022, when her health began to deteriorate, she went for a check-up and learned she had uterine cancer, requiring surgery three months ago. Facing a series of difficulties, Ms. Kien has at times fallen into despair.

In the final days of the year, Comrade Kha Van Tam - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor, and representatives of trade unions at all levels visited and inquired about the aspirations and Tet bonus arrangements at many businesses in the province. Understanding these difficulties, her colleagues at the factory, the Company's Trade Union, and the Provincial Labor Federation provided timely support, both emotionally and materially. In particular, when she was hospitalized for surgery, the trade union and factory workers mobilized and raised funds to help cover her medical expenses.
The company also arranged for her to take an additional 10 days off to recover her health. Regarding her rented accommodation, with encouragement from the trade union at all levels, the landlord showed empathy and reduced the rent for the mother and child almost every month. These timely acts of support and sharing have given her and her child renewed motivation to live.
Holding the meaningful gift she received before the Lunar New Year, Ms. Kien's eyes welled up with tears: "Because my parents are no longer alive, this Tet holiday my mother and I will be going to my brother's house in Khai Son commune, Anh Son district. I haven't had any money left over from working all year, so I don't know how I'll manage when Tet comes. But thanks to these gifts and timely encouragement, I feel like Tet has arrived in my heart. It's a joy that allows me to enter the new year more fully."

Despite the happiness of having a wife and children, Mr. Tran Thanh Thong (a worker in the weaving workshop of Minh Anh Kim Lien Garment Joint Stock Company) carries a deep sorrow in his heart as his newborn child, less than a month old, has been diagnosed with intellectual disability. In their rented room at alley 137, Dang Thai Mai Street (Hung Dong commune, Vinh city), he and his wife were filled with mixed emotions as they welcomed a delegation who came to visit and offer encouragement.
“The support, however small or large, from organizations and individuals means a great deal to us poor workers. Going through a difficult period due to the Covid-19 pandemic and market fluctuations at the end of the year made us very worried. However, we are happy to continuously receive gifts and support programs at our workplaces and even in our neighborhoods. That concern motivates us to strive, work hard, and produce to stabilize our lives in the long term,” Mr. Thong shared.
Bidding farewell to the makeshift lodgings of the workers, many members of the delegation were deeply moved by the hardships and difficulties that many laborers are enduring. Although the Tet gifts were not of great material value, they helped to warm their hearts and offer some comfort amidst their struggles and deprivations.

Smiling brightly after receiving gifts from the program, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen, a worker at Minh Anh Kim Lien Garment Joint Stock Company, and her friends at Vinh City Green Park Joint Stock Company felt a renewed sense of motivation. Ms. Huyen excitedly shared: "I've been a garment worker for 3 years, often working overtime to earn 7-8 million VND per month. My husband is a freelancer, so raising two children and supporting their education is still quite challenging. Therefore, the gifts from the program are a way to share in the difficulties faced by workers, and also an encouragement for those with outstanding achievements, helping me to strive harder in my work."
