No fee waiver at BOT toll station
Regarding the proposal of the investor of the Phap Van - Cau Gie expressway to waive tolls during the 2019 Lunar New Year, Mr. Nguyen Van Huyen, General Director of the Vietnam Road Administration, affirmed that according to the law, investors are not allowed to waive tolls at BOT toll stations.
“The investor’s proposal will only be accepted if the investor uses the company’s own profits to compensate for the free days for vehicle owners passing through the station. On the other hand, according to the law, the project’s financial plan has been approved by the competent authority, so the fee exemption or reduction will affect the number of toll collection days of the project,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Huyen.
Regarding the issue of releasing BOT stations when congestion occurs during holidays and Tet, the Vietnam Road Administration has issued many documents requesting investors and BOT project enterprises to ensure traffic safety at toll stations.
