The festive Christmas atmosphere and dazzling Christmas lights in Paris are dispelling the trauma felt by the French people following the recent terrorist attacks.

Immersed in the festive atmosphere and not wanting to miss the bustling Christmas markets in Paris, many foreign tourists say they are enjoying the best Christmas experience.

The day before Christmas Eve, Parisians and international tourists alike enjoyed a peaceful morning and a pleasant atmosphere. The Christmas spirit permeated the city, easing the pain of the horrific terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of 130 people on the night of November 13th.

Suman Matra, an Indian tourist visiting Paris for the first time, said that he and his wife were welcomed upon arriving in Paris, and the Christmas atmosphere everywhere showed that the people of Paris and France as a whole are united, strongly overcoming grief to move forward.

Matra shared: “We are enjoying the wonderful atmosphere, Christmas is everywhere. Everyone in Paris is having a wonderful Christmas. The recent terrorist attack is a haunting memory, but I see that the people of Paris are strongly moving forward.”

At the Eiffel Tower area, the ice rink on the first floor of the tower attracts a large number of tourists and Parisians these days. People come here to have fun and share the best time before Christmas Eve.

Many French people living and working abroad have returned home for this time to pray with their loved ones for a peaceful Christmas. Marc Alessi, a Frenchman living in Spain, said that the ice rink at the Eiffel Tower is a must-see when he returns to Paris.

“I live abroad and came home to visit my family for Christmas. For us, Christmas is a time for reunion, a time for the whole family to enjoy the holiday season. This year, there wasn't much snow, so the ice rink at the Eiffel Tower was a great place to go. We had a lot of fun playing, and there's nothing better than being with family this Christmas,” said Alessi.

For children, Christmas is even more wonderful when they receive gifts and get to spend time with family enjoying delicious food. Shops decorated with elaborate lights and images of characters from the "Star Wars" movies attract the attention not only of children but also of fans of the film.

Six-year-old Deva shared her feelings about the Christmas atmosphere in Paris: “Yes, I am very happy because at Christmas everyone is happy to receive gifts, to have dinner with family, and most importantly, to be loved.”

To ensure a festive Christmas atmosphere in Paris, French authorities have tightened security, but without disrupting the enjoyment of Parisians and tourists, including participation in the Christmas market on the Champs Elysees.
