1.Northeast monsoon and cold

Above, the westerly wind trough is gradually moving to the east.

In the Northern provinces and Thanh Hoa, the weather is very cold with the lowest temperature commonly 10-13 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas 7-10 degrees Celsius, in high mountainous areas in some places below 5 degrees Celsius.
In the Gulf of Tonkin and the northern East Sea (including the waters of the Hoang Sa archipelago), the northeast wind will gradually increase to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8; rough seas. From the night of January 16, in the waters off the Central and Southern regions and the central East Sea, there will be strong northeast wind of level 6, gusting to level 8; rough seas.
2.Heavy rain in the Northwest, Viet Bac and Central regions
Due to the influence of the upper westerly wind trough combined with cold air, there will be scattered rain in the Northern provinces, especially in the Viet Bac provinces today there will be moderate rain, some places will have heavy rain (common rainfall 20-50mm/24 hours, especially in Lao Cai and Ha Giang, some places will have over 80mm/24 hours). During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
On small rivers and streams in the upper Red River basin, there is a possibility of a small flood with a flood amplitude of 1.0-2.0m.
