(Baonghean.vn) - Following the news that the Phu Dien urban area will be expanded to encompass 9 communes, 1 town, and a part of Dien Thap commune, covering an area of ​​over 4,493 hectares, the people of Dien Chau district are excitedly welcoming the news with many new hopes.

With a focus on developing investment in seafood processing and port industries, and emphasizing the exploitation and utilization of sea surface space for the development of tourism and resort services, this sector is of great interest to the people of Dien Chau coastal area.

The Phu Dien urban expansion project has been implemented by Dien Chau district since 2007. To date, after numerous contributions, revisions, and additions from the Ministry of Construction and various departments of Nghe An province, the project aims for urban development in the period up to 2035 and a vision to 2050, covering an area of ​​4,493 hectares across nine communes: Dien Phuc, Dien Tan, Dien Bich, Dien Ngoc, Dien Kim, Dien Van, Dien Ky, Dien Hoa, the town, and a part of the southeastern area of ​​Dien Thap commune.

The selection of key development areas in the coastal region, addressing difficulties such as shallow waterways, and prioritizing the branding of seafood products have been well-received by fishermen. Nguyen Hang, a fisherman from Dien Ngoc commune, shared: "If there were a safe seaport and waterways, that would be the greatest joy for the fishermen of Dien Chau. We would invest in larger, more powerful boats and fish with peace of mind."

For the people of Dien Hoa, this is seen as an opportunity for the locality to develop in many aspects. Mr. Cao Xuan Thuong, a resident of Dien Hoa commune, shared: "We are very excited and have high hopes that the commune will be included in the urban center and will also be the location of the administrative headquarters. However, Dien Hoa commune will lose a lot of agricultural land, the livelihood of most people. Therefore, I hope the district will have a roadmap for investment and job retraining so that the people of Dien Hoa will still have jobs and income even after losing their production land."

A new feature in this urban planning presentation compared to 2007 is the relocation of the Dien Chau District People's Committee administrative center from Dien Thanh commune to Dien Hoa commune, which has surprised many residents. Based on careful calculations regarding traffic planning, development direction, and urban aesthetics, the selection of Dien Hoa as the location for the administrative center was unanimously agreed upon by the Ministry of Construction, relevant departments and agencies, and the Dien Chau District People's Committee.

Mr. Ha Xuan Quang, Vice Chairman of the Dien Chau District People's Committee, stated: "The general plan for expanding Phu Dien urban area, if approved, will be an important basis for developing a project to upgrade Phu Dien from a type V to a type IV urban area; it will also serve as a prerequisite for the decentralization and classification of urban areas from towns to cities directly under the province, significantly promoting the development of the 'coastal center' region of Nghe An. Therefore, once the plan is approved, we will proceed with planning and developing a roadmap until 2035, with annual investment programs and plans in a systematic manner."
