Article 123 of the 2015 Penal Code, amended and supplemented in 2017, stipulates the crime of murder as follows:

1. Whoever commits murder under any of the following circumstances shall be punished with imprisonment from 12 to 20 years, life imprisonment, or the death penalty:
a) Killing two or more people;
b) Murder of a person under 16 years of age;
c) Killing a woman knowing she is pregnant;
d) Killing a person while they are performing their official duties or for reasons related to the victim's official duties;
(d) Killing one's grandparents, parents, guardians, teachers;
e) Murder committed immediately before or immediately after committing a very serious crime or an exceptionally serious crime;
g) To commit or conceal another crime;
h) To obtain body parts from the victim;
i) Committing the crime in a barbaric manner;
k) By exploiting one's profession;
l) By a method capable of causing the death of many people;
m) Hiring someone to commit murder or being hired to commit murder;
n) Having a thuggish nature;
o) Organized;
p) Dangerous recidivism;
q) Because of despicable motives.
2. If the offense does not fall under the cases specified in Clause 1 of this Article, the offender shall be sentenced to imprisonment from 7 to 15 years.
3. Anyone who prepares to commit this crime shall be sentenced to imprisonment from 1 to 5 years.
4. Offenders may also be prohibited from practicing a certain profession or engaging in a certain job for 1 to 5 years, subjected to probation, or prohibited from residing in a certain area for 1 to 5 years.
Therefore, according to the above regulations, the penalties that can be applied to a person who commits murder are imprisonment from 12 to 20 years or life imprisonment, and the highest possible penalty is the death penalty.
