According to RIA Novosti on March 15, Akif Cagatay Kilic, advisor on foreign policy and security to the Turkish President and ambassador, stated that there is a "crisis of confidence" in the negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine and that the parties are seeking to extricate themselves from the current situation.

US President Donald Trump said that the US had received "very good" signals from Russia and Ukraine.

In an interview with NTV, Ambassador Kilic stated: “The situation in Ukraine is changing very rapidly. The context seems to reach a certain positive point, then it is reversed. The fundamental element here is a crisis of trust. Nobody trusts anyone in the military sphere. The parties in the conflict have been brought closer together twice. This has happened before in Turkey. A significant gap has been bridged in these negotiations. Due to several factors, terms that seemed to be agreed upon have been abandoned. So now, the parties have reached the brink of a crisis of trust.”

According to Ambassador Kilic, the parties are constantly revising the outcome of the negotiations.

“Questions are arising on each side: what lies behind the statements, what goals are being pursued? What will Europe and the US take in this process? In the entire atmosphere of this crisis of mistrust, the parties are trying to break out of the deadlock,” the Turkish politician observed.
