Proposal to adjust salaries soon to stabilize the lives of officials and retirees.

The current salary policy and benefits for civil servants and retirees do not adequately meet the requirements for ensuring a decent standard of living due to the impact of inflation, rising prices, and increasing living costs.

On the morning of January 12th, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly met to discuss and provide feedback on the report on the National Assembly's work on citizen petitions for December 2025.

Presenting the summary report, Chairman of the People's Petition and Supervision Committee Duong Thanh Binh stated that, in addition to the achievements, voters and the public expressed concern about the rising prices of some essential consumer goods, and the issue of counterfeit and substandard goods during the year-end period.

Environmental pollution and public health issues, particularly the increase in cancer cases in recent years; traffic congestion and accidents during holidays; and the high, volatile, and prolonged price of gold... are also causing concern among voters and the public.

Regarding the results of receiving and resolving petitions from voters and the public, the Standing Committee of the People's Petition and Supervision Committee received an additional 400 written responses to petitions submitted before the 10th session of the 15th National Assembly.

To date, the Standing Committee has received responses to 704 petitions, achieving a resolution rate of 93%. Currently, 53 petitions remain unanswered within the deadline (7%). The Standing Committee will continue to monitor and update the results of petition resolution and responses from the relevant authorities.

Regarding complaints and denunciations, in December 2025, the number of citizens coming to the Central Citizen Reception Offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to file complaints, denunciations, petitions, and feedback showed a downward trend compared to November 2025. Basically, all citizens who came to file complaints, denunciations, petitions, and feedback at the offices strictly complied with legal regulations.

The Standing Committee on Citizen Petitions and Supervision of the National Assembly Standing Committee recommends that the Government and the Prime Minister direct relevant ministries, agencies, and local authorities to implement measures to ensure market and price stability during the Lunar New Year holiday.

The government and relevant ministries and agencies need to strengthen market management, price control, and the prevention of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods in order to protect consumer rights.

Another recommendation is to research and develop a reasonable transition roadmap from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric vehicles, enact appropriate support policies, and strengthen public awareness campaigns to reassure people about the transition…

"The Ministry of Interior is researching, reviewing, and proposing adjustments and additions to appropriate mechanisms and policies for part-time workers at the grassroots level, in order to ensure their legitimate rights and create motivation for this group to work with peace of mind and successfully complete their assigned tasks. It is also researching and considering early adjustments to salary and social security policies to ensure a stable and sustainable life for officials, civil servants, public employees, retirees, and citizens," Mr. Duong Thanh Binh stated.

The Ministry of Public Security needs to strengthen its direction to functional forces to organize inspections, detect, and strictly handle violations related to the management and use of fireworks; implement effective preventive measures, especially during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), in order to prevent the illegal manufacture, storage, sale, and use of fireworks, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property and maintaining social order and security.

The Ministry of Health is leading research and conducting a thorough, scientific assessment of the causes of the increasing cancer incidence rate, while also closely monitoring food safety management and strictly handling violations to protect public health.

The State Bank of Vietnam continues to implement measures to stabilize the gold market in line with the country's socio-economic development, limiting the ripple effect of price increases for essential goods and contributing to the stability of people's lives.
