Proposal to recover over 13 billion VND from corruption

The figures were presented at the Bac Ninh province's anti-corruption plan implementation conference on the morning of August 23rd.

On the morning of August 23rd in Bac Ninh, Working Group No. 3 of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, led by the Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee, Phan Dinh Trac, chaired a conference to implement Plan 16 of the Steering Committee on anti-corruption work in the province.

The main violations included breaches of regulations prohibiting certain actions by Party members, family planning policies, irresponsibility, and lax leadership and management of land and finances. According to the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee's report, during the reporting period, the Party's Inspection Committees at all levels reviewed and disciplined 49 Party organizations, including 41 reprimands and 8 warnings. Disciplinary action was taken against 1,185 Party members, including 401 members of Party committees at various levels. Of these, 716 members received reprimands, 342 received warnings, 75 were dismissed from their positions, and 52 were expelled from the Party. Over 10 billion VND was recovered and deposited into the State budget.

In addition, authorities have inspected and resolved 176 complaints and denunciations regarding economic corruption, transferred 9 cases to investigative agencies, and recovered over 84 billion VND in assets obtained through corruption, misappropriated assets, and assets lost due to economic misconduct. The total amount of assets to be recovered through investigation, prosecution, and trial is over 13 billion VND, of which over 5.5 billion VND has been recovered. Over 7.5 billion VND remains unrecovered, this amount being related to the case of Nguyen Manh Dung, who abused his position to arbitrarily purchase shares for others and then failed to deposit the money with the Mekong Delta Housing Development Bank Securities Joint Stock Company, Hanoi branch, causing nearly 9 billion VND in losses to the company.

"The Resolution of the 12th National Congress of the Party affirmed the continued fight against corruption, resolutely and persistently pursuing the high political determination of the provincial leadership. It is necessary to comprehensively direct the implementation of Resolution No. 4 of the 11th Central Committee. Therefore, effectively carrying out the inspection and supervision tasks according to Plan 16 of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption contributes to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 12th National Congress of the Party," Mr. Phan Dinh Trac stated. Speaking at the conference, Mr. Phan Dinh Trac requested the Standing Committee of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee to closely coordinate with the working group to conduct inspections and supervision of units in the province, ensuring that the normal operations of these units are not affected. At the same time, he requested clarification of the results, experiences, and limitations in leadership and direction of investigation, prosecution, and trial to ensure timely and effective detection and handling of corruption.
