According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on September 6, Mr. Kim Jong-un also had a "frank" discussion with the delegation on issues related to improving relations between the two Koreas as well as ensuring lasting peace and stability on the peninsula.
“Noting that it is our fixed stand and will to completely remove the threat of armed conflict and the fear of war from the Korean Peninsula and turn it into a cradle of peace, free of nuclear weapons and nuclear threats, he said North Korea and South Korea should intensify efforts to realize the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula,” KCNA said.
“He also had a candid exchange with the delegation on various issues arising in the process of accelerating the development of North-South relations and protecting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula,” the news agency added.
KCNA confirmed that Mr. Kim Jong-un and South Korean officials exchanged views on plans to hold a third summit between the North Korean leader and South Korean President Moon Jae-in this month, but the agency did not disclose a specific date.
A five-member delegation led by Chung Eui-yong, head of the South Korean President's National Security Office, made a one-day visit to Pyongyang on September 5 to arrange the planned summit and discuss inter-Korean relations.
