In his congratulatory speech, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un called the launch of the Hwaseong-14 missile "a momentous historical event that changes the nature of North Korea's strategic stance and the political structure of the world."

"Kim Jong-un expressed his expectations and confidence in the scientists, technicians, workers, and officials involved in the defense industry. He hopes they will achieve even greater success in their efforts to create the strongest military guarantee under the slogan: 'Advance in a life-or-death battle for the people and the country,'" the North Korean state news agency KCNA reported.

Those who made outstanding contributions to the success of the intercontinental ballistic missile test, in addition to being awarded North Korea's highest medals such as the Kim Il-sung Medal, the Kim Jong-il Medal, and the title of Hero of Korea, also received watches engraved with the names of former leaders of the country as well as a collection of quotes from Kim Jong-un.

On July 4th, North Korea announced the successful test of the Hawseong-14 intercontinental ballistic missile at 00:39 GMT. The missile traveled 930km and reached an altitude of 2,802km during its 39-minute flight before striking a target in the Sea of ​​Japan.
