Digital economy and the challenge of enhancing Nghe An's competitiveness.
Developing the digital economy and enhancing the competitiveness of Nghe An province was the topic of a seminar held on the morning of May 18th, a collaboration between the People's Committee of Nghe An province, Vinh University, and the National Economics University.
Attending the seminar were: Mr. Thai Van Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Quy Linh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Science and Technology; leaders of departments, agencies, and related organizations and businesses. Also in attendance were leading professors and associate professors in the fields of economics, management, and finance.
In his opening remarks at the seminar, Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, Thai Van Thanh, emphasized that in recent years, Nghe An province has paid attention to leading and directing the implementation of tasks related to the development of the digital economy associated with digital transformation and innovation, gradually concretizing the policies of the Central Government and the Government into programs and plans suitable to the practical conditions of the locality.
Digital infrastructure continues to be invested in and expanded; digital platforms are gradually being formed and put into operation; and the application of digital technology in state management, production and business, and social life is increasingly being promoted.
For Nghe An, the digital economy is not just a separate technology sector, nor is it simply about digitizing administrative procedures. The digital economy has become a new development model, enabling the government to operate based on data, helping businesses reduce transaction costs, expand markets, innovate business models, increase productivity, and participate more deeply in the value chain.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his hope that the seminar would help clarify issues such as: How is Nghe An's digital economy currently developing? How has the digital economy impacted, and may impact, the productivity, costs, markets, and competitiveness of businesses in the province? It would also clarify the main bottlenecks regarding digital infrastructure, data, digital skills, institutions, resources, and coordination in implementation.
The seminar featured numerous presentations and opinions related to the current situation and solutions for developing the digital economy, increasing provincial competitiveness in the economic sector, innovation, and the application of science and technology.
Notable presentations included those by representatives from the National Economics University on theoretical issues and practical experiences from four Vietnamese localities, focusing on the development of the digital economy in Nghe An province; a presentation by the Nghe An Department of Finance on the current state of digital economic development and the province's competitiveness; and a presentation by the Vinh University School of Economics on the role of the digital economy in enhancing the competitiveness of the North Central region.
Through the seminar, the opinions and presentations of experts and scientists analyzed and clarified many issues from theory to practice, further shaping the path of digital economic development to boost Nghe An's competitiveness in the future.
