Authorities promptly thwarted a sophisticated scam involving "ordering and then stealing the deposit."
On the afternoon of October 24th, the Vinh Loc Ward Police (Nghe An province) successfully thwarted a scam targeting elderly people, using the tactic of impersonating military officers to place orders and then stealing deposit money.
Previously, Mr. Nguyen Van H. (nearly 70 years old, residing in Block 7, Vinh Loc Ward) received a call via Zalo from a stranger claiming to be an officer from the Nghe An Provincial Military Command. This person ordered a large quantity of double-decker iron beds, but when Mr. H. did not have enough stock, the caller introduced him to another "dealer" and asked him to place the order for him.

Mr. H. agreed and acted as an intermediary to place the order, paying a deposit of 136,800,000 VND. Later, the perpetrator edited the photo of the money transfer and informed Mr. H. that he had provided incorrect information, resulting in the contract between the two parties not being fulfilled. They also demanded that Mr. H. compensate them with half of the aforementioned deposit, otherwise they would be held legally responsible.
Faced with this unusual request, Mr. H. reported it to the Vinh Loc Ward Police. The police quickly determined that this was a sophisticated scam.misappropriation of propertyand promptly prevent damage.

The police advise people to be wary of orders from strangers, and not to transfer money to unknown individuals, especially when asked to "buy additional goods" beyond the initial order. If you have any suspicions, contact the nearest police station for assistance and appropriate action.
