(Baonghean.vn) - Going back in time to the 80s, when Tan Xuan (Tan Ky) was dry and cracked, making people's lives miserable in every way, Chan well was still full of cool water to help people through the hardship. Chan well was still there, for hundreds of years it never dried up and became a sacred well in the minds of the people here.

Chan Well is the name given by the Thai people, describing a large well located on a flat land. According to the elders in the village, Chan Well has been around for hundreds of years, it used to be a large water source located at the foot of Vinh Dong Mountain. Later, in 1988, the locals built it into its current shape. |
In the 80s and 90s of the last century, the vast Vinh Dong mountain range covered the whole of Tan Xuan. Later, people came here to reclaim land and do farming, then people lived there. At that time, Chan well was the only source of fresh water in the area because people here could not find a source of water even though they drilled dozens of meters deep. If there was, the water was very sour due to the high alum content. |
The water in the well is very clear and sweet, especially full of water all four seasons. There are times when Tan Ky has severe drought, people from all over Tan Phu, Tan Xuan... come here to get water. |
There is a small niche in the well, where water from the underground stream is drawn into the well. Around the well, there are about 21 households living and regularly using the water source here. All are in good health, especially, there are 25 elderly people who are nearly 80 years old this year but are still very alert and healthy. |
The well is about 4m deep, with lots of lichen and green moss growing around the banks, adding to the ancient look of the sacred well. |
Until now, many people in Tan Xuan area (Tan Ky) still install water supply system from Chan well to serve production and daily life. In the picture is the water storage pond from the well of Mr. Tran Van Thuan's family (Vinh Dong hamlet, Tan Xuan). |

According to the locals, Chan Well is very sacred and there are many mysterious stories surrounding this well. Therefore, many people still regularly come here to burn incense and pray. Due to that need, more than 20 years ago, the locals built this hermitage for convenient incense burning. |
Next to Chan well, there is a Dung rock. According to local people, there used to be a man who lived next to and guarded the well. Once, when he returned from the forest, he was eaten by a tiger. Since then, people often burn incense to pray for the deceased to be safe. And Dung rock - Chan well has become a sacred complex that is highly respected and preserved by the people of Tan Xuan in particular and Tan Ky district in general through many generations. |
