Celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Criminal Police Force and honoring the unit as a Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

The ceremony was attended by Lieutenant General Bui Quang Thanh - Member of the Central Party Committee of the Ministry of Public Security, Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Public Security; and leaders of several units under the Ministry.

The leaders of Nghe An province included: Hoang Nghia Hieu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Duong Dinh Chinh - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Hoang Phu Hien - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Thai Van Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

The leaders of the Nghe An Provincial Police Department included Major General Dinh Viet Dung - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Director of the Provincial Police Department, along with other members of the Party Committee Standing Committee and Deputy Directors of the Provincial Police Department.

He was honored twice with the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

Over 80 years of development, combat, and growth, the Vietnamese Criminal Police force has affirmed its core role as a "steel fist" in the fight against crime, maintaining social order and safety, and contributing to protecting the peaceful lives of the people.

Along with the overall development of forces nationwide, the Criminal Police of Nghe An Provincial Police Department has continuously grown stronger, upholding the traditions of the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh, and achieving many outstanding accomplishments.

A significant milestone in the unit's development was on December 20, 1990, when the Criminal Police Department of Nghe Tinh Province (now Nghe An and Ha Tinh) was honored by the Party and State with the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

Upholding their heroic traditions, the Criminal Police force of Nghe An Provincial Police always demonstrates unity, proactiveness, and creativity in their work, spearheading the fight against crime.

As the leading and core force in preventing and combating crimes that disrupt social order, the unit has proactively grasped the situation and effectively implemented the motto "accurate forecasting, correct advice," thereby making a significant contribution to reducing criminal offenses year after year.

In practice, the unit has taken the lead and coordinated with functional forces to continuously fight against and dismantle many major cases, arresting hundreds of suspects and uncovering many dangerous criminal networks and organizations.

Many large-scale cases and investigations involving sophisticated and unprecedented methods and tactics have been successfully solved, creating a nationwide sensation and receiving commendations from the Minister of Public Security; many other units have come to learn from and exchange experiences.

In recognition of these exceptionally outstanding achievements, on April 17, 2026, the President signed a Decision conferring the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces on the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police.

Previously, on April 18th, at the ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Criminal Police Force's traditional day, solemnly organized by the Central Party Committee of Public Security and the Ministry of Public Security, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung awarded this prestigious title to the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police.

At the ceremony, Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - presented flowers and a banner from the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee to the Criminal Police Department of the Provincial Public Security.

Many individuals with outstanding achievements were honored with Certificates of Merit and Commendations; including 6 individuals who received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; 2 individuals who received Commendations from the Director of the Criminal Police Department, Ministry of Public Security; and 21 individuals who received Commendations from the Director of the Provincial Police Department.

"Ready to dedicate ourselves to the country and the people."

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the provincial police leadership, Colonel Nguyen Duy Thanh - Deputy Director and Head of the Criminal Investigation Agency of Nghe An Provincial Police - acknowledged and praised the outstanding achievements of the criminal police force in the past period; and emphasized that the current security and order situation is posing many new challenges.

Traditional crimes are becoming increasingly sophisticated, while high-tech crimes, transnational crimes, human trafficking, cybercrimes, and new forms of crime continue to rise, directly impacting people's lives and sustainable development.

In this context, the task of combating crime and ensuring social order and safety places very high, heavy, but also extremely glorious demands on the Criminal Police force.

To meet the demands of the new situation, the comrade requested that the forces continue to innovate their thinking in a way that both prevents and suppresses crime, while creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development.

Simultaneously, improve the quality of situation assessment and forecasting, proactively identify new methods and tactics of crime early on; promptly advise on effective prevention and combat solutions, especially for new types of crime, and resolutely not leave any loopholes for criminals to operate.

Colonel Nguyen Duy Thanh also noted that the Criminal Police force needs to continue focusing on applying science and technology and digital transformation in all aspects of its operational work: from prevention, detection, and tracing to investigation and discovery of crimes, in line with current trends in the crime situation.

In particular, it is necessary to continue strengthening the Criminal Police force in the new phase in accordance with the guiding spirit of General Secretary and President To Lam: "Politically sound, professionally competent, knowledgeable in law, mastering technology, and ready to dedicate themselves to the country and the people."
