Ky Son prepares to relocate Vang Phao villagers to new residence

The Vang Phao resettlement area in Muong Tip commune (Ky Son) was built after a large crack was discovered on the mountain top running along Vang Phao village, threatening the safety of the entire population here. In early August 2024, the authorities at all levels of Ky Son initiated steps to prepare to relocate the entire Vang Phao village to a new place.

On August 9, 2024, at Vang Phao village, at the village's cultural house, officials of the Muong Tip Commune People's Committee were holding a meeting with all households to prepare for relocation to a new place. The meeting was attended by 70 households of Vang Phao village. The meeting reiterated the need to relocate as the mountain cracks were getting deeper. At the same time, the district People's Committee's direction on implementing procedures, statistical records and commitments of households before moving to live in the Vang Phao resettlement area. 100% of households have signed a commitment to relocate to a new place. In 2019, Ky Son district implemented a project to build a resettlement area in Vang Phao to urgently respond to the appearance of a large fracture along the mountainside, about 1 km from the residential area of ​​Vang Phao village. The fracture threatened landslides and mountainside collapse, endangering the lives and property of 68 households in Vang Phao village. The leader of Ky Son District People's Committee said that after Vang Phao residents move their houses to settle down, the government will contact agencies and units to provide electricity grid and telephone signal to serve the lives and activities of the people.
