Ky Son calls for rescue of specialty ginger
(Baonghean.vn) - Although the price of Ky Son (Nghe An) ginger specialty has dropped sharply this year, it cannot be consumed. Therefore, the District Farmers' Association has called for rescue, in order to promptly consume ginger for the people.

Ky Son Gingerhas been in harvest since the end of 2021. Unlike last year when the purchase price of ginger for farmers was up to over 20,000 VND/kg, this year it has dropped sharply to less than 6,000 VND/kg. More difficult, although the price is very cheap, it still cannot be consumed, causing the amount of ginger currently remaining to be over 5,000 tons.
According to Mr. Phan Van Manh - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Ky Son district, the ginger output of Ky Son in this crop is about 5,400 tons, but up to this point, only a few hundred tons have been consumed, and more than 5,000 tons are still in stock at purchasing facilities and among the people. Ginger is a significant source of income for ethnic minorities in the highlands of Ky Son every year, but the low price and lack of consumption have affected the lives of the people here.
Therefore, the current solution for ginger consumption for people is to call for rescue. "In recent days, the District Farmers' Association has surveyed the actual situation and found that there is too much ginger in stock, so the Farmers' Association has stepped in.rescueginger, by connecting with local farmers' associations. Accordingly, any farmers' associations at any level interested in helping will have units supplying them directly. However, the amount of ginger consumed in recent days has not been much and we are continuing to call for rescue" - Mr. Phan Van Manh shared.

The reason why Ky Son ginger has fallen sharply in price this year and is difficult to sell, according to Mr. Nguyen Van Luan - Director of Huong Son Agricultural Service - Small Industry Cooperative, the main ginger purchasing and consuming unit in Ky Son district, is that this year, due to the impact of Covid-19, fewer traders, increased transportation, and difficult exports... Meanwhile, ginger from other localities with beautiful designs is sold a lot on the market, so it is difficult to compete.
