(Baonghean.vn) - To combat the problem of food safety and hygiene, counterfeit goods, and substandard products circulating in the market during the Lunar New Year of 2018, from January 25th to February 5th, 2018, the inter-agency team of Ky Son border district is intensifying inspection work.

In Ky Son district, there are over 400 food production and processing businesses, mostly small-scale and family-owned. The Lunar New Year is a time when these businesses stockpile a large amount of goods to meet consumer demand. Taking advantage of this, some businesses, driven by short-term profits, mix unsafe products with genuine ones and sell them to consumers.

To promptly prevent this situation, the inter-agency team of Ky Son district conducted inspections of grocery stores and food service businesses in 21 communes and towns. This was especially important in densely populated areas such as Muong Xen Market, Huoi Tu Market, and Muong Long Market.

In addition to inspections, the inter-agency team also conducted awareness campaigns, advising people to recognize and avoid using substandard or unverified food products. They also strictly dealt with violations. During this period, the team handled 23 establishments that violated food safety and hygiene regulations, imposing administrative fines exceeding 10 million VND.
