Để vào vùng lõi của Khu BTTN Pù Hoạt, từ thành phố Vinh,chúng tôi ngược lên huyện núi Quế Phong và dừng chân tại bản Thái cổ Mường Đán xã Hạnh Dịch.

Mường Đán là bản có nét đặc sắc riêng có, hầu hết các ngôi nhà đều lợp mái bằng gỗ Sa mu dầu đen nhức.
