Stories of roosters laying eggs have been recorded in many localities. In Nghe An province, a farming household in Quynh Luu district attracted attention seven years ago. Many Thai communities in the mountainous areas believe that a rooster laying eggs is a sign of good fortune for the family. The homeowner often boils the eggs and carefully stores them to preserve that good luck.

According to scientists, roosters lay eggs because they have excess calcium. There are also cases where hens resemble roosters in appearance, with combs and colorful feathers. Science calls this "hermaphrodite" chicken. Rooster eggs are usually smaller and lack yolks.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Trieu said he would keep the egg as a souvenir.
