Strange: Carrying Mid-Autumn lanterns on a modified car

(Baonghean.vn) – The lantern-carrying ‘carriage’ to welcome the Mid-Autumn Festival is a modified vehicle tied to the back of a motorbike, conceived and decorated by parents in Khe Voi hamlet, Khe Bo village, Tam Quang commune, Tuong Duong district. The ultimate goal is to help children in the mountainous areas have fun on the full moon night.

People in Khe Boi hamlet, Khe Bo village, Tam Quang commune, Tuong Duong (Nghe An) used a rickshaw to take the children in the hamlet to carry star lanterns.

The special 'carriage' for the star lantern procession is only 'designed' once a year to serve children. It is a daily vehicle that people use to pull agricultural products or construction materials. To turn it into a 'carriage' to carry special passengers, people use materials such as bamboo to create a frame, then decorate it with balloons, colorful flags, and the vehicle is surrounded by curtains removed from the windows. In front of the vehicle is a large 5-pointed star covered with colored cellophane.

The children in the neighborhood were very excited about this method.

This year, for the Mid-Autumn Festival, the people of Khe Voi hamlet made two cars to carry the children to carry star lanterns. This is the second time the hamlet has celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival in this rather unusual way.

The drum and band team was quite professional in cheering for the lantern procession.

The rickshaw will take the children around the village, then pick them up at the starting point to celebrate.

At the end of the session, the children were taken back to the starting point to enjoy the feast, which also marked the end of the Mid-Autumn Festival in the neighborhood.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuong, a resident in the neighborhood, was delighted: "Since we have this way of celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival, our neighborhood has become more crowded and happier. The children are also very excited and eager."
