Three more children from the same family drowned.

While playing, five children slipped and fell into deep water, resulting in three drowning deaths and two being rescued.

At approximately 10:00 AM this morning (June 6th), a tragic drowning incident occurred at the waterfront of Hamlet 8, on the Pho Loi River, in the section flowing through Phu Duong commune, Phu Vang district, Thua Thien Hue province, resulting in the deaths of 3 children.

Five children, including two sisters, Nguyen Minh Anh Thu (9 years old) and Nguyen Minh Anh Son (10 years old), both residing in Khe Sanh town, Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province, along with three other children, Nguyen Thi Thu Hang (8 years old), Nguyen Minh Tu (12 years old), and Nguyen Thi Chau Anh (7 years old), all grandchildren of Mr. Nguyen Duc Thong, residing in Hamlet 6, Phu Duong commune, Phu Vang district, went to the waterfront in Hamlet 8 to fish.

Locals are diving to search for the bodies of the children who drowned.

While playing near the riverbank in Hamlet 8, all five children slipped and fell into the deep waters of the Pho Loi River. As a result, Anh Thu, Anh Son, and Thu Hang drowned. After the accident, rescue forces found the bodies of the three drowned children and launched an investigation.

Many people gathered at Mr. Thong's house after the drowning incident.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Loc, residing in Hamlet 9, Phu Duong Commune, who rescued two children, said: While driving on National Highway 49A near the scene, he saw four arms reaching up to the surface of the Pho Loi River, pleading for help, about 4-5 meters from the shore. Immediately, Mr. Loc stopped his vehicle and jumped into the river to rescue them. After about 15 minutes, he managed to rescue Minh Tu and Chau Anh. However, due to exhaustion and not knowing that many children were in distress, he was unable to save the remaining three.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Loc said: "It was exactly 10 o'clock. I went in and looked down at the river, and I saw four arms floating in the water. Seeing the children like that, I knew they couldn't swim. I jumped in and pulled the first child out of the water and brought them to shore. Then I went to pull out the second child, but by then I was exhausted and completely worn out."

Following the drowning incident, Mr. La Phuc Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Vang District, Thua Thien-Hue Province, visited, offered condolences, and provided each victim with 3 million VND in support.
