'Murder' with his nephew, brave man sentenced to 10 years in prison

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of September 14, the Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of Loc Van Tu (born 1993), residing in Thung Khang village, Chau Binh commune, Quy Chau district, for the crime of child rape.

According to the indictment, on the evening of July 16, 2016, Tu and his niece LTH (born in 2006, Tu's niece) went to a stream near their house to build a dam to block the water flow to run a turbine to generate electricity. After completing the dam, taking advantage of the child's immaturity, Tu committed a depraved act with the victim and told her not to tell anyone.

The child came home and told her mother. On July 19, Quy Chau District Police issued an emergency arrest warrant for Loc Van Tu. At the time of the abuse, LTH was just over 10 years and 5 months old.

At the trial, Loc Van Tu admitted his crime and showed remorse. After the incident, Tu compensated the victim 22 million VND. The victim’s legal representative did not request Tu to pay more compensation and requested the panel of judges to consider reducing the defendant’s sentence.

Considering the entire case as well as the aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the panel sentenced Loc Van Tu to 10 years in prison.
