Working as an online collaborator, a woman was scammed out of nearly 600 million VND.
Despite repeated warnings from authorities, many people still fall victim to scams disguised as "performing tasks to receive commissions," accompanied by advertisements promising "easy work with high pay."
On October 14th, the Ha Dong District Police (Hanoi) announced that they had received a report from Ms. H. (47 years old, residing in La Khe, Ha Dong) regarding being scammed out of nearly 600 million VND after being invited to become an online sales collaborator to earn commissions.

Specifically, on October 2nd, the Ha Dong District Police received a report from Ms. H. (47 years old) regarding being invited to work as a collaborator with the task of earning commissions online.
According to Ms. H., after being instructed by the perpetrators, she transferred nearly 600 million VND to carry out the task but was unable to withdraw the money. Realizing she had been scammed, she went to the police to report the incident.
Hanoi police said the suspects' modus operandi was to recruit online collaborators to process payments for orders from e-commerce platforms or businesses selling products.
According to the police, the "bait" used by the suspects...CheatThe offer was very attractive, promising a profit margin of 10-20% on each order. When victims paid for small orders, they would receive a commission, but when large orders were processed, the perpetrators would embezzle the money.
Hanoi police emphasized that many people, especially women raising young children at home or those seeking to earn extra income through online sales, have been lured into becoming collaborators and subsequently scammed.
Authorities advise people to be vigilant and spread awareness about these scams to their relatives and friends to avoid falling into the trap.
"People should be wary of advertisements promising easy jobs with high salaries, where you can earn money just by sitting in one place. When working as a payment processing agent for companies and businesses, people need to carefully check information about goods and suppliers through multiple sources to verify accuracy," the Hanoi City Police advised.
If a case of fraud is discovered, citizens should promptly report it to the police so that authorities can verify, prevent, and handle the perpetrators in accordance with the law.
