Rampant sidewalk encroachment in Dien Chau

(Baonghean.vn) – The situation of encroaching on sidewalks for business purposes still occurs every day in Dien Chau town.

Along National Highway 1A, passing through Dien Chau town, it is not difficult to see images of sidewalks being occupied for business purposes. This situation occurs frequently, posing a potential risk of traffic accidents.

According to observations, the most encroached sidewalk is National Highway 1A, from Block 1 to Block 4 of the town. The sidewalks on both sides of the road have been turned into places to display goods, spontaneous eateries, and many billboards have encroached onto the road, blocking the view of traffic participants.

Right at the center of town, in front of Phu Dien supermarket, there are still a few bread shops and beverage shops with a lot of customers every day; Cars and motorbikes are parked haphazardly on the sidewalk.

Some construction workers also dumped construction materials on the sidewalk, encroaching on the road. It is worth mentioning that this encroachment happens every day.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, Dien Phuc, Dien Chau said: I have to go through this road every day. People dumping construction materials on the sidewalk not only pollutes the environment but also spoils the beauty of the street. I hope the authorities will take stronger action to reclaim the sidewalk for pedestrians.

Ms. Ngoc in Block 3, Dien Chau Town said: Dien Chau Intersection is a place where many restaurants and beverage shops are concentrated. Not only is it chaotic during the day, but at night, there are also many households selling sticky rice and pho on the sidewalk. The reason is that this is the pick-up and drop-off point for many vehicles, so there are many people waiting and picking up vehicles, so food and beverage services have sprung up a lot.

Discussing this issue, Mr. Phan Van Anh - Chairman of Dien Chau Town People's Committee said that the problem of clearing sidewalks in Dien Chau Town is quite difficult, some households do business on their residential land, moreover, the town does not have the authority to establish an urban order team like the city. In the near future, the Town People's Committee will meet with Dien Chau District People's Committee to find a solution to the sidewalk problem.
