Widespread encroachment on sidewalks in Dien Chau.

(Baonghean.vn) – The encroachment on sidewalks for business purposes continues daily in Dien Chau town.

Along National Highway 1A, passing through Dien Chau town, it's not difficult to see sidewalks being occupied for business purposes. This situation occurs frequently and poses a potential risk of traffic accidents.

Observations show that the sidewalks are most heavily encroached upon along National Highway 1A, specifically the section from Block 1 to Block 4 of the town. Sidewalks on both sides of the road have been transformed into display areas for goods, makeshift food stalls, and numerous advertising signs encroach onto the road itself, obstructing the view of road users.

Right in the town center, in front of the Phu Dien supermarket, there are still several bread shops and beverage stalls with many customers every day; cars and motorbikes are parked haphazardly on the sidewalk.

Some households are dumping construction materials on the sidewalks, encroaching onto the road. What's concerning is that this encroachment occurs daily.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quang from Dien Phuc, Dien Chau, said: "I have to pass through this road every day. People dumping construction materials on the sidewalks not only causes environmental pollution but also spoils the street's aesthetics. I hope the authorities will take stronger action to reclaim the sidewalks for pedestrians."

Ms. Ngoc, residing in Block 3, Dien Chau Town, stated: "The Dien Chau intersection is a hub for many food and beverage stalls. It's particularly chaotic not only during the day but also at night, with many households selling sticky rice and pho on the sidewalks. This is because it's a popular pick-up and drop-off point for many vehicles, resulting in a large number of people waiting for and catching rides, leading to the proliferation of food and beverage services."

Discussing this issue, Mr. Phan Van Anh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Chau Town, stated that the problem of clearing sidewalks in Dien Chau town is quite challenging. Partly because households conduct business on their own residential land, and furthermore, the town does not have the authority to establish an urban order team like the city. In the near future, the People's Committee of Dien Chau Town will hold a meeting with the People's Committee of Dien Chau District to find solutions to the sidewalk issue.
