This is the most important Olympic competition in the field of Astronomy and Astrophysics for high school students, with more than 50 teams from countries across 5 continents.
Although this is the 10th competition, for Vietnam, this is the first time we have sent a team to participate.
Astronomy is still a relatively new science in Vietnam. This subject is only taught at a basic level at some universities such as Hanoi Pedagogical University and Quy Nhon University. In general schools, astronomy knowledge is only briefly mentioned in some physics or geography textbooks.
All 5 contestants on the team are 11th grade students of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted (Hanoi).
