The Dividing Line, Episode 16: The power struggle intensifies.
Episode 16 of the series "The Dividing Line" sees Khac using his 'trump card' to exert pressure, while Hang Thu discovers that her husband may be involved in a serious case.
Episode 16 of the series "The Dividing Line" continues to escalate tensions, vividly portraying the power struggle in Viet Dong with calculated moves from the main characters. Khac proactively puts pressure on his rivals, while Chan begins to face the threat from an internal investigation.
Engraving and the chessboard of power
At the beginning of the episode,NotchHe had a clandestine meeting with Mr. Khai, the former Party Secretary of Dongsan County, who directly approved the Huangpu resettlement area. By cleverly bringing up the misuse of funds and presenting old documents as his "trump card," Khac forced Mr. Khai to pledge his support for him in the Standing Committee. Khac's satisfaction showed that he was getting closer to his goal of becoming Director of the Finance Department.
Not stopping there, Khac also directly confronted...Le Chinh, his most formidable rival. The dialogue between the two was likened to a battle of wits, where Le Chinh warned that someone was "cutting wood" to pave the way. Khac calmly responded, showing that he fully understood the rules of the game and was prepared for any situation. The power struggle in Viet Dong was heating up as one side was Khac with the backing of Mr. Sach and the businesses, and the other was Le Chinh, promoted by Secretary Son.
Hang Thu and the growing suspicions
While political infighting was taking place,Hang Thu– the wife of Deputy Chief Chấn – was once again consumed with anxiety. Rumors about her husband's relationship with the business made her uneasy. Although Chấn always maintained his innocence, Hằng Thu still felt something was amiss and began searching for information herself, especially regarding unusual hospital bill payments.
The biggest shock came to Hang Thu when she spoke to Thu Huong about Dang Duc's death. She had a feeling this death was related to the Vien Vinh case. However, information from the investigation indicated that it was actually...Shock– her husband – was also involved with Dang Duc, which plunged Hang Thu into crisis.
Undercurrents in the Viet Dong region
Trouble truly hit Chấn when all the records at his workplace were reviewed. Colleagues warned him to be careful because his name had been mentioned in the investigation into Đặng Đức. The intensity of the inspection was drawing closer.
At the same time, Le Chinh was summoned by Provincial Party Secretary Thuy to report. Thuy's reminder to maintain his composure and not let anyone exploit any loopholes served as a warning that all of Le Chinh's actions were being closely monitored. Episode 16 concludes with a tense atmosphere, foreshadowing a major storm about to hit the political scene in Eastern Vietnam.
