Career on the brink of collapse
In episode 24 of the series "The Dividing Line," Khac's career, as the Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, is facing the risk of complete collapse. The investigation into a gambling ring involving Vinh, Khac's cousin, has directly affected him. The investigating agency has summoned Khac to clarify suspicious money transfers between him and Vinh dating back to 2023.
Despite Khắc's attempts to explain the reasons for each payment, the prosecutor's office officials argued that he had been dishonest, knowing about Vinh's gambling but covering it up. Realizing his disadvantage in the race for the position of Director of the Department of Finance, Khắc repeatedly tried to contact Mr. Sách but was always refused.
The situation worsened when Trinh, the Vice President of Trinh Tam Group, unexpectedly advised Khac to resign. This advice made Khac suspect someone was behind it. In despair, Khac returned to his lover and admitted that all doors seemed closed, friends and family might turn their backs on him, and he even faced the possibility of legal repercussions and being relegated to a lowly position as a village employee.
Decisive directive: "No forbidden zones."
The case involving numerous officials and Party members participating in a gambling ring caused a public uproar and put significant pressure on the provincial leadership. Deputy Secretary Sach convened a meeting with the internal affairs department to issue firm directives. He affirmed the stance that all officials who violated the law must be severely punished, "without exception or forbidden zones."
Mr. Sach requested that the investigative agency and the Procuratorate cooperate closely and conduct thorough reviews to ensure that no individual is overlooked. He emphasized that a resolute fight would demonstrate a clear stance in handling corrupt officials, while affirming that the province's policy of streamlining the administrative apparatus is correct.
New opportunities and questions
While Khắc faced a crisis and Lê Chỉnh lacked support, this presented an opportunity for Triển, the Vice Chairman of the province. He had hinted that the Chief of Staff was about to be handed over to a new position, suggesting significant personnel changes were imminent.
Regarding the investigation, Vinh admitted to knowing Duc (who is deceased) but denied any conflict and had a clear alibi. A new development emerged when Hang Thu discovered documents related to her husband, Chan. Although her subordinates stated there was no evidence linking Chan to the case, Thu's angry demeanor indicated she would not let it go and might investigate on her own.
