The developments in episode 9 of the film "The Border" became tense when the list of candidates for the position of Director of the Department of Finance of Viet Dong province suddenly changed. After candidate Huy voluntarily withdrew, the race was left with only Trien and Khac. However, the appearance of Le Chinh, Head of the Industrial Park Project Management Board, made the situation more complicated.
Secretary Son himself requested the Provincial Organizing Committee to consider supplementing the dossier for Le Chinh. Mr. Son highly appreciated Le Chinh's strong and effective working style, despite the controversies surrounding this character, including his strong opposition to the Trinh Tam project and the problems at the Dong Phong project.
This change forced Chairman Thuy and Mr. Sach to have a private conversation. Both of them commented that Secretary Son's inclusion of Le Chinh in the list was a calculated move, aimed at prolonging the decision-making time. Mr. Sach said that Le Chinh had a rigid and personal way of working, while Mr. Thuy emphasized the importance of ethics and the ability to gather people's hearts in a leadership position.
Trien frankly refused the opportunity for promotion.
