(Baonghean.vn) - Capitalizing on the demand for flowers during the Lunar New Year season, in recent years, some residents of Yen Thanh district, known for its rice cultivation, have switched from rice farming to flower cultivation, resulting in higher incomes. In the days leading up to Tet, people flock to buy, admire, and take photos at the flower-growing village in Tran Phu hamlet (Block 1 - Yen Thanh town - Nghe An province), creating a lively atmosphere.
Mr. Phan Van Bao, the owner of a flower garden, excitedly said: “This year the weather has been favorable, and all the gardens have had a bumper harvest. The best part is that the price of flowers has doubled compared to last Tet. My family grows 6 acres of flowers, mainly chrysanthemums. This Tet season, each acre brings in over 70 million dong, dozens of times more than farming, and with minimal effort.”
Currently, there are hundreds of households growing flowers in Yen Thanh, but the highest concentration is in the town center. Some families earn hundreds of millions of dong from flower cultivation, such as the families of Mr. Loi, Mr. Thao, and Mr. Hoi...
Flower villages on rice paddies not only break the monoculture system and create a decent income for farmers, but also bring a spring-like beauty to the rice-growing region of Yen Thanh.
