Although the carpentry craft of Giap Quan village has existed for a long time and gone through many ups and downs, since 2000, the craft village has been restored and developed strongly.

Developing his family's traditional carpentry, Mr. Ho Sy Hoang, Giap Quan village, My Thanh commune, has invested hundreds of millions of dong to buy more multi-function machines and equipment for production. He also regularly updates new product models.

Many households in Giap Quan village have boldly invested in purchasing machinery to serve their profession, improving product quality and reducing labor time.

Mr. Hoang said: "Our products are often imported from neighboring districts: Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Hoang Mai, about 150 sets per month; earning a profit of about 6 - 7 million VND".

Mr. Ho Sy Quy - Giap Quan carpentry village, My Thanh, Yen Thanh said: Market demand is increasingly diverse, high-end wooden furniture, beds and cabinets... so in recent years, we have not only been able to live off the profession but also created jobs for 2-3 workers; income reached about over 80 million VND/year.

In addition to the stages of chiseling and carving by machine, the sanding stage is still maintained manually, female workers can also do the work, the monthly salary is also approximately 3 - 4 million VND/month.

Giap Quan village, My Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district currently has 40/103 households still maintaining the profession, with more than 100 workers working in carpentry. Household carpentry products are mainly made from locally available mixed wood materials such as: Melaleuca, Eucalyptus, Xoăn Đậu; so the price is also quite cheap. High-class carpentry products of Giap Quan village are also famous far and wide because they are made by skillful, experienced craftsmen. Therefore, products of Giap Quan craft village, from household carpentry to high-class wooden products, are increasingly favored by the market.

The average monthly income of a carpenter in the craft village is about 10 million VND. The total revenue of Moc Giap Quan craft village reaches over 8 billion VND/year, accounting for 2/3 of the total social income of the village. Carpentry has changed the lives of people in Giap Quan village, with over 80% of households being well-off and rich.

Mr. Nguyen Vinh Hoi - Secretary of the Party Committee of My Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh said: After being recognized as a craft village (in 2015), the Party Committee and the People's Committee of the commune oriented to establish a cooperative to ensure factors for the development of the craft village.
