Listen to what Toyota has to say.

According to a representative from Toyota Nghe An, E10 gasoline reduces greenhouse gas emissions compared to pure mineral gasoline; it supports agricultural development and utilizes domestic raw materials. Therefore, E10 bio-gasoline has the advantages of reduced emissions, utilization of agricultural products, good octane rating, and is usually cheaper than RON95.

About a week ago, a colleague messaged our private group: "Get ready to switch to E10 bioethanol fuel." He uses a diesel car, so it was a playful jab. We understood the hint, but the members of our group couldn't help but wonder: Is using E10 bioethanol fuel safe for our vehicles?

In recent days, Facebook has been flooded with information about E10 bioethanol fuel. There are many supporters, but also many critics. Perhaps because of this, the representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, has repeatedly given interviews to the press and appeared twice on VTV1 to clarify the situation. In these interviews, he affirmed that 60 countries worldwide are stably using E10 bioethanol fuel. He also stated that the Party and Government's policy on energy transition stems from the requirements of sustainable development, ensuring energy security, protecting the environment, and fulfilling Vietnam's international commitments on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Nevertheless, a significant number of people still express their concerns and anxieties on social media.

I believe Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan's words. Simply because I think no decision from the central government could possibly harm the people! However, because my profession requires me to frequently use vehicles that consume a lot of fuel, I also contacted Toyota, the car brand I use, to seek helpful advice.

According to a representative from Toyota Nghe An, E10 gasoline is a blended fuel consisting of approximately 90% mineral gasoline and 10% bioethanol (bioethanol derived from sugarcane, cassava, and corn). Ethanol in gasoline enhances combustion, reduces CO and HC emissions, lowers greenhouse gas emissions compared to pure mineral gasoline, and supports agricultural development by utilizing domestic resources. Therefore, E10 bioethanol offers advantages such as reduced emissions, utilization of agricultural products, good octane rating, and generally lower price than RON95. However, Toyota also acknowledges that E10 bioethanol has limitations, including hygroscopicity and volatility; prolonged storage may degrade its quality and slightly increase fuel consumption.

A representative from Toyota Nghe An affirmed that Toyota vehicles from around 2008 onwards are designed with electronic fuel injection systems and corrosion-resistant materials, allowing for the safe use of bioethanol fuel. He also stated: "The environmental and economic benefits of E10 bioethanol fuel outweigh the drawbacks if users adhere to proper storage and maintenance guidelines."

Searching on Google to find out what major car manufacturers have advised customers about E10 bioethanol fuel, major brands like Honda, Hyundai, Ford, and Mercedes-Benz all affirm that modern vehicles circulating in Vietnam can use E10 fuel normally!

As Hyundai Thanh Cong Vietnam has confirmed, all gasoline-powered vehicles distributed by the company are designed to be compatible with E10 fuel according to global standards. Honda Vietnam also stated that most of its current cars and motorcycles can use E10 fuel normally...

Clearly, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Ford... are global brands. For them, responsibility to customers is always a top priority. Therefore, their recommendations are trustworthy.

Therefore, I privately messaged my colleague: Don't worry too much about the information circulating on social media. Get more information from the car manufacturers. As I listened to Toyota, I'll wait until June 1st, 2026!
