Russian and Chinese leaders praise bilateral relations
According to RIA Novosti, during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit on October 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that economic relations between Russia and China are developing despite external circumstances.

“After the record of bilateral trade in 2023, Russia and China, despite the negative external impact, maintained the dynamics of economic growth and economic interaction in January-August 2024, trade turnover, according to our data, increased by 4.5%. According to the data from the Chinese side, the statistics have slight differences, but in general the positive trend continues,” – President Putin said.
The Russian leader noted that the two countries are successfully implementing joint projects in the fields of energy, industry, high technology, transport, agriculture and many other areas.
Russian President Putin stressed that cooperation between Moscow and Beijing is equal and not opportunistic. According to Mr. Putin, this is a model in the modern world.
On the Chinese side, President Xi Jinping noted that serious changes in the international arena cannot shake the relations between Russia and China.
“We have been on the right track in building major power relations on the principles of non-alignment, non-confrontation and non-direction against third parties. In the new era, you and I have always paid more attention to China-Russia relations and other issues,” President Xi Jinping said.
The Chinese leader pointed out that the relationship between the two countries has achieved unprecedented achievements over the past 10 years, overcoming challenges in the international context.
President Putin noted that cooperation between Russia and China is one of the main factors of stability in the world; the countries are strengthening coordination in the field of global security and a fair world order.
In 2024, Russia and China celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations. In 2023, trade turnover reached a record $227.8 billion. In 2024, according to the negotiation documents, bilateral trade continues to grow.
