Vinh city leaders inspect drainage efforts ahead of typhoon No. 3.
On the morning of September 6th, working groups from Vinh City inspected the flood and storm prevention and control situation related to Typhoon No. 3 in the area.
The delegations included comrades: Nguyen Van Lu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Vinh City Party Committee; Tran Ngoc Tu - Deputy Secretary of the Vinh City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vinh City People's Committee, and representatives from relevant units.
The delegations inspected the implementation of response measures to Typhoon No. 3 (Typhoon Yagi) at the knitting factory residential area in Ben Thuy ward, the Cau Den pumping station in the south of the city, the drainage wharf in the Vinh market area, the Cua Nam pumping station, etc.
These are critical areas prone to flooding, and the pumping stations are capable of draining water from the city during heavy rains.
Given the complex weather developments, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee requests that the Party Committees of wards and communes, and functional units focus on directing flood and storm prevention and control efforts, avoiding complacency and preventing any unexpected or passive situations, especially in areas at high risk of landslides and flooding; and in residential areas and dilapidated buildings.
City leaders have instructed relevant departments to ensure the safety of ongoing construction projects, especially high-rise buildings; and to inspect the safety of billboards and large advertising panels… in order to ensure the safety of lives and minimize property damage for the people.
