Nghe An provincial leaders visit former President Tran Duc Luong

On the morning of May 24, the Nghe An Provincial Delegation led by Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Provincial Party Secretary, visited the National Funeral Home (No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi) to pay tribute to former President Tran Duc Luong.

The delegation included comrades: Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province; Phung Thanh Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and comrades representing the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Committee, Provincial Party Committee Office, Provincial People's Committee Office, Provincial Police, and Provincial Military Command.

In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, the delegation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province laid wreaths and offered incense to commemorate former President Tran Duc Luong.

Next, the members of the delegation observed a moment of silence, deeply remembering comrade Tran Duc Luong - a loyal and upright communist soldier, a close and intimate comrade, a respected and exemplary technocratic leader, an excellent scientist, who devoted his whole life to the country and the people.

Walking around the coffin, remembering comrade Tran Duc Luong, the members of the delegation expressed their deep sorrow at the passing of comrade; at the same time, they offered condolences to his family, showing gratitude for the great contributions of the former President to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

In his infinite grief, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee wrote in the condolence book, expressing the deep remembrance and sincere gratitude of the Party Committee, Government and People of Nghe An province to former President Tran Duc Luong - a leader who made many important contributions to the cause of innovation, national development and national defense.

Comrade Tran Duc Luong - former member of the Politburo, former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, former Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, born on May 5, 1937; hometown: Pho Khanh commune, Duc Pho district (now Duc Pho town), Quang Ngai province.

Former President Tran Duc Luong passed away at 10:51 p.m. on May 20, 2025 at his home due to old age and poor health, at the age of 88. The funeral was held according to the National Mourning protocol for 2 days (May 24 and 25).

The coffin of former President Tran Duc Luong lies at the National Funeral Home No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi. The visitation will be from 7am on May 24 to 7am on May 25. The memorial service will take place at 7am on May 25, and the burial will take place at 3pm on the same day at his hometown cemetery in Pho Khanh commune, Duc Pho town, Quang Ngai province.

At the same time, at Thong Nhat Hall, Ho Chi Minh City and at Hall T50, Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command, No. 142 Le Trung Dinh, Quang Ngai City, the Funeral and Memorial Service for Comrade Tran Duc Luong also took place.

During more than 50 years of revolutionary activities, he made many great contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He was awarded the Gold Star Order, the 65-year Party membership badge and many other noble orders, medals, awards and titles by the Party and the State.

The passing of former President Tran Duc Luong is a great loss to our Party, State and People; leaving deep sorrow in the hearts of comrades and compatriots nationwide.

Regarding Nghe An province, comrade Tran Duc Luong always paid attention to and followed the development process of the locality. During his working time and even after his retirement, he had many visits and worked in Nghe An, contributing to the orientation of socio-economic development, encouraging the spirit of cadres, party members and people of the whole province in the process of building an increasingly prosperous and civilized homeland.

With sincere respect, the Party Committee, Government and People of Nghe An province bid farewell to comrade Tran Duc Luong - an outstanding son of the country, a loyal communist soldier, with infinite sorrow and deep gratitude.
