Leaders of Nghe An province pay their respects to former President Tran Duc Luong.
On the morning of May 24th, the Nghe An Provincial Delegation, led by Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, visited the National Funeral Home (No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi) to pay respects to former President Tran Duc Luong.

The delegation included: Ms. Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province; Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and representatives from the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department, the Provincial Party Committee Office, the Provincial People's Committee Office, the Provincial Police Department, and the Provincial Military Command.
In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, the delegation from the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee laid wreaths and offered incense in commemoration of former President Tran Duc Luong.
Following this, the delegation members observed a minute of silence, paying profound tribute to Comrade Tran Duc Luong - a steadfast and upright communist soldier, a close and dear comrade, a respected and exemplary technocratic leader, an outstanding scientist, who dedicated his entire life to the country and its people.
Walking around the coffin to commemorate Comrade Tran Duc Luong, the members of the delegation expressed their deep sorrow at his passing; at the same time, they offered condolences to his family and expressed their gratitude for the great contributions of the former President to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

In profound sorrow, Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung, Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, signed the condolence book, expressing the deep remembrance and sincere gratitude of the Party Committee, Government, and people of Nghe An province to former President Tran Duc Luong - a leader who made many important contributions to the cause of national renewal, development, and defense.
Comrade Tran Duc Luong - former member of the Politburo, former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, former Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, was born on May 5, 1937; his hometown is Pho Khanh commune, Duc Pho district (now Duc Pho town), Quang Ngai province.
Former President Tran Duc Luong passed away at 10:51 PM on May 20, 2025, at his home due to old age and ill health, at the age of 88. His funeral was held as a state funeral over two days (May 24 and 25).
The coffin of former President Tran Duc Luong is laid in state at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi. The viewing will take place from 7:00 AM on May 24th to 7:00 AM on May 25th. The memorial service will be held at 7:00 AM on May 25th, and the burial will take place on the same day at 3:00 PM at the family cemetery in Pho Khanh commune, Duc Pho town, Quang Ngai province.
At the same time, memorial services for Comrade Tran Duc Luong were also held at the Thong Nhat Hall in Ho Chi Minh City and at the T50 Hall of the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command, 142 Le Trung Dinh Street, Quang Ngai City.

Throughout more than 50 years of revolutionary activity, Comrade has made immense contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He has been awarded the Gold Star Order, the 65-Year Party Membership Badge, and many other prestigious orders, medals, awards, and titles by the Party and the State.
The passing of former President Tran Duc Luong is a great loss to the Party, the State, and the people of Vietnam; leaving deep sorrow in the hearts of comrades and fellow citizens nationwide.
For Nghe An province, Comrade Tran Duc Luong always paid close attention to and followed the local development process. During his time in office and even after retirement, he made many visits and worked in Nghe An, contributing to guiding socio-economic development and encouraging the spirit of cadres, Party members, and the people of the entire province in building a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland.
With heartfelt respect, the Party Committee, Government, and people of Nghe An province bid farewell to Comrade Tran Duc Luong - an outstanding son of the nation, a steadfast communist soldier - with boundless sorrow and profound gratitude.
