The provincial People's Committee leaders directed the complete resolution of violations at Lai Ferry.
The Provincial People's Committee leadership has issued a directive to the Chairman of the Con Cuong District People's Committee to handle or propose to relevant competent authorities to strictly handle violations in accordance with the law after Nghe An Newspaper published an article reflecting on the issue.
On April 12th, the Provincial People's Committee issued a document directing the inspection and decisive handling of violations by floating restaurants at Lai Ferry on the Giang River section passing through Mon Son commune, Con Cuong district.
In this regard, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long assigned the Chairman of the Con Cuong District People's Committee to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to urgently inspect, verify, and definitively resolve the issues reflected by the press; and to handle or propose to relevant competent authorities to strictly handle violations in accordance with the law.
Previously, on April 8th, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also submitted a document advising and requesting the Provincial People's Committee to direct the handling of this issue. The document from this department stated that on April 5th, Nghe An Newspaper published an article titled "Procrastination in handling violations at the Pha Lai tourist spot.
The article reflects that for many years, the local authorities have issued numerous documents requiring the owners of floating restaurants on the Lai Ferry, located on the Giang River section passing through Mon Son commune (Con Cuong district), to cease operations and dismantle illegal structures, but these households have still not complied.
In early 2025, Con Cuong district established an enforcement committee, but to date, the enforcement has not been carried out. Even the barriers erected by the authorities around the dam have been dismantled by someone.
The handling of violations at Pha Lai has been at a standstill for many years, as the households have refused to comply with the local authorities' requests. Numerous solutions have been implemented, along with a series of dialogues between the leaders of the Con Cuong District People's Committee and the violating households, but the issue remains unresolved.
"The violations by owners of floating restaurants in Pha Lai have been reported in the press for many years, causing public outrage and distorting the image of Nghe An tourism in the eyes of domestic and foreign tourists," the document from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated.
In order to build a professional and nature-friendly tourism environment to attract tourists and tourism investors to Nghe An province, the department has advised the Provincial People's Committee to direct the Con Cuong District People's Committee to urgently investigate, clarify, and definitively resolve the situation mentioned in the newspaper report before April 25, 2025.
